Cost Savings Options
Washington Healthplanfinder™ offers ways to save you cannot find anywhere else. You could save on monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs. Depending on your household, you could even get free coverage.
Not everyone knows about the cost savings options we provide. For some, a little know-how could turn into a lot of savings. Read on to learn more about the ways you can get the most out of your Washington Healthplanfinder™ coverage.
Types of cost savings
Washington Apple Health (Medicaid)
Apple Health is the name for Medicaid in Washington. Apple Health is free or low-cost health insurance coverage for those who qualify. Covered services include primary care, emergency visits, maternity services, pediatric care, dental services, vision care, prescription medications and more.
Premium savings
Tax credits and Cascade Care Savings reduce the amount you pay monthly. To get these savings, your household must be under a certain income level. You cannot get these savings if you qualify for Apple Health.
Out-of-pocket cost savings
Cost-sharing reductions lower the out-of-pocket costs of your health plan. You qualify for cost-sharing reductions based on your income. The lower your income, the more you can save. You must sign up for a Silver plan to get these savings.
The type and amount of savings you get depends on your situation. Your income, household size and more affects your savings. The best way to see how much you can save is to apply!
How to apply for savings
In some cases, we will notify you when you qualify for savings. But most people who use Washington Healthplanfinder™ will have to apply for savings. Luckily, it’s easy to do!
Opting into savings
When you first apply, Washington Healthplanfinder™ takes you to the About You page. This page asks for a little information about you. This helps us find health plans that are best for who you are and where you live.
On this page, there is a section called “Application Details.” The second half of this section asks if you want to apply for savings programs or Washington Apple Health (Medicaid).
Make sure you answer “Yes!” This way, you will be shown any savings you qualify for when you receive your eligibility results.
If you applied without opting into savings, you can still do so. Simply log into your account and report a change. This will take you back through the application process.
